Look Into The Future

As I'm sitting here writing, my housemate is sitting on our sofa in earmuffs and several jumpers, so it seems a little premature to look ahead to balmy sunny evenings when it's still so chilly.  To whet the appetite, here is a guide of the key trends for the upcoming season.

Under The Sea
As usual, Chanel set the precedent for the Spring Summer shows, transforming the Grand Palais into a deep sea scene.

The shows were awash with iridescent fabrics, swathes of aqua and sea green, and sea life prints.  To dip into this trend without looking like you're in a performance of The Little Mermaid, combine mother of pearl textures with jersey basics or don a few pearls (but NOT so you look like a Sloane Ranger).

The Roaring Twenties
Baz Luhrmann's highly anticipated remake of The Great Gatsby has bought on a surge of flapper-style dressing.  Drop waists, embellishment and fringing all contribute to achieve the classic Mia Farrow look.  Makeup should be fresh faced and glowing or try intense, black jazz eyes as seen at Gucci.

Pyjama Party
Night attire has become the most fabulous new evening wear for Spring Summer.  Silk slouchy pyjama pants should be teamed with simple silk shirts or T's, and heels.  Bed hair seems appropriate but accessories and makeup should be minimal.

Candy Shop
Delicious, mouth watering shades are perfect for the sunny seasons.   Think gelato and macaroons and make a big splash with head-to-toe colour.

Fun and Games
With this summer's upcoming events, it's no surprise that sports luxe has hit the fashion world.  Athletic fabrics like mesh, and zips are blended with feminine lines to keep the trend from looking like a school PE uniform.

  1. You've literally taken some of my absolute favourite things and put them together in one post. Macaroons and irridescent hues....heaven.
