Party Dress Poll

It's time for a vote.  My colleague Rae revealed her most recent purchases today - four dresses of varying price tags for upcoming Summer events.  She wants to pick two or three to keep to wear for the following events - a Summer work party with paparazzi, fashion types and general merriment, a wedding and a 30th birthday.  We want readers everywhere to vote for their favourite dress, giving reasons why they love them, possible accessories to pair them with, which dress for which event...you get the picture.  Comment below, all feedback very welcome!

First Contender

A simple black silk slip.  Begging to be paired with a chunky gold chain necklace,
killer heels and bronzed skin.  Beautiful.

Second Contender

A pleated slip dress in nude with the most fragile of spaghetti straps.  Very pretty, very vintage Halston.

Third Contender

A true showstopper.  Completely coated in sequins of different
shimmering aqua tones with a low cut back and full skirt.

Forth and Final Contender

Finally, a nude embellished dress with low V neck and back.
The white and silver sequins make up a slightly blurred paisley pattern.  Stunning.

Happy voting.  Verdict will be announced soon xxx

  2. Pretty hard decision to be made here…all four dresses all deserve to be kept. Having said this, my vote goes to the Topshop black dress and Rare at Asos. You can’t go wrong with a simple black dress…dress it up with a statement necklace and bangles it’s a dress you can bring alive.
Rare dress pretty much sells itself, ideal for parties…. I am sure Rae will look hot in all 4. xXx

  4. you must have a LBD dress already- that's the first one to go (even though i die for anything black). Rare at ASOS (#4) is a definite must and then i'd say the nude Topshop (#2), probably don't have tons of nude dresses and definitely more summery than black!

  5. I agree with the people above! I love the Topshop Black Dress and the Rare from ASOS.

You can never go wrong with an LBD. It's classic, timeless, and extremely elegant. Because the dress is so simple there are numerous accessories to pair with it. For a summer event, definitely gold to bring out the color, and maybe some red lipstick to make a bold statement. I would definitely wear this to the Wedding just because you do not want to draw away from the bride and groom, but it definitely allows you to also look great but without being too revealing. Hair pulled back with a sleek but chic updo would be my choice of hairstyles for this dress!

With the Rare dress from ASOS, the defining factor is the front and back deep cut V. This too, shows class and poise. Just from the look of it, it looks fitting and as if it would hug the body in all the right places accenting your figure appropriately as well. I love the sequins on this dress. It's the type of dress that makes you stand out once you walk into the room, but not the type of attention that sends out the wrong message. I think this dress would look fabulous at summer events/parties. Pairing it with silver accented jewelry with hair down in loose curls are some of my suggestions!

    Hope this helps!

  6. So I definitely agree with the Sophie in choosing the Topshop Black Dress and the Rare from ASOS.

A LBD is classic, time-less, and elegant. Pairing it with gold jewelry and heels are the way to go. Adding in some red lipstick would also help to make a bold statement when wearing this dress. I would definitely choose this for a Wedding Event because it draws others to look at you, but without completely taking away all the attention from the bride. This dress is beautiful especially with the thin straps because it shows off the shoulder and neckline but also helping you to keep poise.

The Rare dress from ASOS is one that I would wear to summer events because it too has class and elegance but it also looks fitted. From the initial impression, it shows that it is the type of dress to hug the body in all the right places accentuating the best features on the body. The deep v cut in the front and back also sell the dress because though it's low cut, it's not overly revealing. Paired with silver jewelry or a bold color can help bring out the best of the dress while doing loose curls with your hair.

    Hope this helps!
