Mad Hatter

Weddings, races, partying alfresco.  'Tis the season of the hat, and whilst I have come to terms with the fact that my head was not born to be regularly adorned, I occasionally dabble.   I don't like anything too formal and stuffy, and straw, given the right splash of colour or detail, can be dressed up to look sensational and smart.
Much like jewellery, beds and a man's vocabulary I think the bigger, the better.  Who could forget Kate Winslet in her first scene in Titanic as she stepped out of her car to reveal a punch of violet  millinery? That hat far overshadowed the ship, I thought.  There are a few alternatives below, however, if anyone's feeling a little shy.

Stunning, black and VAST with a beautiful posy on the side.

Simply classic.

A boater looks modern and feminine if worn with a fresh, white dress and windswept hair.

An investment in a wonderful, mouthwatering raspberry hue.

A re-work on the timeless trilby.

Emerald.  Amazing.

For when black is best.  Falls beautifully over one eye.

For a look that's a little cute.  A straw pillbox decked with feathers.  Team with loose, flaxen waves.

Contrasting crowns and brims make one fabulous hat.

Simple.  Bold.  Effective.

Scared of hats?  This headband is a heavenly alternative.

Black and amber - will look wonderful with white.
