What They Wear - Good Housekeeping

The gorgeous Nini Khatiblou from Good Housekeeping popped in to see me yesterday.  As well as being a right old giggle, she looks brilliant All. The. Time.  Slightly disheveled and effortlessly styled.  Here she is wearing her beautiful navy lightweight Topshop coat and carrying a Zara tote.

I NEVER see her without her metallic Kate Spade blackberry case.  Fabulous.

Hello Sunshine

Anyone who knows me well knows I'm an Autumn Winter girl.  I love the anticipation and twinkly lights of the run up to Christmas.  I love mulled wine and mittens, and Starbucks red cups bring me actual joy.  But mainly I love the clothes.  Ok, so when I'm on holiday with the sun on my skin, I like the idea of wafting around bare foot in a bohemian maxi dress as much as any girl.  But truly, I go giddy for knitwear, leather and fur, and I love the sultry dark palette of smoky eyes and deep red nails.  So now the sun seems to be shining and a Spring clean for me is met with a little trepidation.  But face it, I shall.  Goodbye gorgeous charcoal and ever-chic black.  Hello pastels and florals....(slight shudder).

Below, I am dipping my toes in the water and even I must admit...the results are really quite pretty.

What They Wear - InStyle

On Friday, I popped into InStyle to catch up with the fashion girls and talk lingerie!  Both Danielle and Robyn were rocking major SS trends - naturally.  Danielle complements her black peplum top with an H&M turquoise necklace (one that I also own and LOVE for a splash of colour).  The lovely Robyn and I first bonded over exchanged memories from our old school and a joint love of Siwy denim.  In an array of designers, Robyn effortlessly pulls off the pyjama look with aplomb.

Nailed It

Fashion’s sweetheart Olivia Palermo told Grazia ‘I haven’t seen my natural nail colour since I was a kid’ and I, like her, am a self confessed nail varnish ADDICT.

Ever since Chanel’s nail paints became as important a must-have as a handbag from the label, women have been considering their nail colour as an integral element of their ensemble.  I too feel awfully naked without polish, and not nearly as groomed for work.

Classic red, highlighter neon brights, buttery nude..... a glossy black looks fabulous when wearing nude and my Barry M red glitter paint which reminds me of Dorothy shoes always prompts comments.

GBF

It was when, after just a few weeks of working at my old job, I was given a beautiful birthday cake from Konditor and Cook topped with massive, flamboyant curls of chocolate and my relatively unknown colleague said to me 'I based my cake selection on your hair'. That was the moment I knew. I had found my gay best friend.

My GBF and I bonded over the same things that any young ever-so-feminine man and single girl do. Tales of relationships - both long term and not at all long term - a love of glitter, fashion and of course Madonna. The fact that we worked in a job involving nothing but lingerie and swimwear was the cherry on this perfectly formed friendship cake.  On a bad day, he only had to emerge from the samples cupboard with a sparkly Melissa Odabash cut-out swimsuit worn over his jeans and my mood lifted.

We have been through a lot together - a joint hatred of a former evil Account Director, simultaneous food poisoning in Europe's largest shopping centre, his shame when he asked out our Brazilian courier who never returned to the office again, my shame when I fell down the stairs in a gay club surrounded by jeering homosexuals, and an ever memorable night in a The Haymarket Hotel when we tried on thousands of pounds worth of womens underwear and pranced around in his n hers matching fluffy dressing gowns.  He has watched for the boss as I napped on piles of cashmere robes, he has facebooked me in despair when his father is making him watch football and we have sung countless harmonising acapella Beyonce duets.

And today is his birthday. And I love him.
