Dear readers, I am under no illusion that this is the first time you will be seeing this imagery. The Fashion Weeks are so well documented from the papers, to online, not forgetting twitter and instagram. But I wanted to share with you my highlights, my lustworthy pieces and the pics that I saw whilst glued to my iPhone and consequently took screenshots of. My Camera Roll is now chocka block with SS14. Happy daydreaming of warmer times...
The Looks
Ashish
It's not the street style clothes I want to draw your attention to. It's these carrier bags. GENIUS.
The brand have taken two major supermarket logos, recreated them in sequins and
turned 'Tesco' into 'Disco' and 'M&S' into 'S&M'. A-mazing.
Alice & Olivia
Beautifully cute. And so wearable. I love the statement full skirt mixed with a little tennis top.
Burberry Prorsum
Ok. So this is the show. THE. SHOW. The show to watch live, the show to walk, the show to be seen on the frow (if you don't know that this is an abbreviation for front row, please stop reading this blog. Like, now). The sweet, sugary colours make me salivate, the knickers peeping from underneath the lace make me wrongly excited. And the KNITWEAR. Soft, simple, chic - pure unadulterated bliss. Bravo Burberry.
Christopher Kane
Sweater + skirt = cool. Just fyi.
Emilia Wickstead
So elegant, in the most mouth watering colours. I love the bold stripes that ran throughout the collection.
Erdem
The combination of fragile lace with almost uniform high necked collars - I love these looks from Erdem. And all to the backdrop of a magnificent grand piano.
House of Holland
The first dress is begging to be taken on holiday. Inspired by Mexico by way of Venice Beach.
Matthew Williamson
Impossibly pretty with three dimensional floral details.
Mulberry
Emma Hill's final show for this mega brand complete with Mulberry-clad dogs and It bags.
Wait 'till you see the invite...
Temperley London
When you see a look like this you curse yourself for never thinking to mix lilac lace with leopard print. WHY?! It's just SO GOOD.
Topshop Unique
Navy printed dress with a mustard sandal? Yes please. And my most coveted piece? The yellow jumper. Slightly cropped, big on the shoulders, skinny on the wrists. Gimme.
The Details
The designers get it. To get people talking, to get that social media CARNAGE you need the details.
Those final touches which make a show an event.
Mulberry do this season after season. Cute little cordial bottles. Branded, obviously.
And the invite of the season. Everyone tweeted this invite. Everyone.
Collaborating with fellow quintessentially British brand Wedgewood
these teeny tiny Mulberry cups and saucers were sent to press and guests.
At Matthew Williamson, the clever people offered social media savvy sweets. An instant instagram hit.
Oh Anya. The space theme, the lollipop invite and the genius collaboration of Anya Hindmarch and WALKERS. WALKERS?! Bespoke crisps that actually got the fashion press eating?!
And finally, at Erdem, beautiful perfect little hydrangea posies for all attendees.
And Paris is next. Look out for me report later this week x
